The Kite
2024 | 11” x 14” | Copper Plate Intaglio Print
Representing both the shape of the copper plate and the imagery, The Kite is about childhood memories that feel impossible to access yet will pop up at random intervals. My memory feels like it’s locked behind a door with which I have forgotten the passcode. Intermittently someone will speak a word or take an action that reminds me of the passcode and for a moment I can glimpse behind the door. The Kite is a memory which I had forgotten, unable to access until recently. When the door opens and I remember a moment, I always feel a need to write it down or immortalize it in art. This piece acts as a keepsake of the memory hoping that it will not be forgotten.
